S&B Christ Consulting, LLC. (SBCC) was contracted to prepare a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) for the Demolition and Reclamation of the American Flat/United Comstock Merger Mill.

Figure 1The U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and Sierra Front Field Office required services to demolish and decommission the abandoned American Flat/United Comstock Merger Mill (American Flat Mill), Storey County, Nevada. The objective of this reclamation project was to minimize risk to public health and safety by mitigating physical safety hazards associated with eight buildings and structures at the site, and return the site to a stable condition. This was accomplished by demolishing the structures, recycling and/or disposing of demolition debris, and returning the site to its approximate pre-mining topography. No utilities existed at the site and the buildings were unoccupied.

SBCC prepared the SWPPP in accordance with Nevada state guidelines and the provided project-specific Design Report section regarding construction of storm water protection.
